Women already lead a tough life under the gaze of a patriarchal environment. But it becomes even tougher when they join the military and the Air Force to show their patriotism towards their nation. They have to follow a strict uniform code but they find it hard to find any body suit that does not meet their requirement of fashion and their service code.
Haley McClain Hill, the owner of TORCH Warriorwear, has launched a line of bodysuits for women serving in the military. Her shirts are not only functional in terms of military requirements but also comfy and fashionable to wear. The product is a first-to-market and base layer bodysuit made for military women. They are available in two styles including both shirts with long and short sleeves. The color scheme is also made in accordance with the requirements of every military branch.
The owner came on Shark Tank to request $150K in exchange for 10% of her company. She also presented the sharks with her body suits to demonstrate the quality of her product. Let’s see if she got the deal or not.
TORCH Warriorwear Net Worth Shark Tank Update
Haley was looking for an investment of $150K in exchange for 10% equity in the company. At the time of the episode, she valued her company at $1.5 million. Haley successfully secured a deal with Lori for an investment of $150K for 22.5% equity in the company. The investment adjusted the company’s net worth to around $666K. After the show was aired, the company experienced a good boost in exposure. As per my rough estimate, the current net worth of TORCH Warriorwear in 2024 is around $5 million.

The Owner’s Backstory
Haley related that she was an Air Force ROTC cadet for five years. Then she was on active duty for four years as a lieutenant along with being a professional cheerleader for two NFL teams.
Her grandmother also served in the Air Force for almost 20 years and she became the inspiration for her to not only join the military but also make something for the women in the military to help them wear bodysuits that not only fit them perfectly but also make them feel more stylish.
Initial Pitch
The owner came on the show to seek $150K for a 10% equity stake. Her product is a bodysuit made for women working in the military to keep them comfy and stylish at the same time. The fabric used is not only comfy but also stretchable and snappable. Moreover, the business is also making body suits for women working in firefighting, health care, and law enforcement.
Queries about the Product
Emma, the guest shark, asks the first question if the military working women can wear other bodysuits like Skims and the one she made in her company. Haley replied in the negatives and highlighted that the military has certain measurements and colors that are a must for every lieutenant to follow.
Even her company’s vision is to make fire-resistant and more comfortable suits for women working in firefighting and health care too. Moreover, pilots and firefighters are required to wear a base layer that is FR.
The sharks showed concerns about her way of protecting her company if there are already businesses making bodysuits. The owner related that She is a small veteran-owned, minority business and thus the government would prefer to buy products from her instead of buying bulk from the high businesses.
Her company has also been booked and became an official vendor for AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service).
Herjavec wanted to know about her sales. The business launched in June of 2021 and made $16K in sales. The next year, her sales were $86K and now they are projecting to make $500K.
Cuban inquired about the cost it takes her to make a unit and its selling rates. Haley pointed out that it costs her $13 to make one. Then she sells the short-sleeved for $60 and the long one for $75.
The shark was also interested to know about the price comparison between her bodysuits and those of Skims. She replied that they are on the same page.
Emma was curious about the material in her product and why she named them “fearless”. The owner answered that in order to give the military working women a morale boost she has handwritten the word on them.
Lori then asked about her partners and investors. Haley highlighted that she has no partners and she has put $50K in the business from her retirement money. Moreover, her grandmother also put her $50K in it as well.
Shark’s Response and Final Decision
Kevin was the first shark to drop the deal as he considers the business to be easily subsided by other brands that are already a huge empire in the bodysuit line.
Cuban followed Kevin and decided to pass the deal too as he does not consider himself to be fit for the business.
Herjavec and Emma also dropped the deal as they think her business is not scalable enough and she also has a lot of big competitors in the same field.
Lori then offered her $150K for 25% equity in her company.
Haley counter-offered the shark $150K for a 20% equity stake.
Lori then revised her offer to $150K for 22.5% equity in her company, which she readily accepted and left the tank with a deal on her hands.
Product’s Availability
After her appearance on Shark Tank, Haley saw a big increase in sales. She also launched her first book, “Light the Torch: An Origin Story by the Creator of Warriorwear”, which, along with her bodysuits, is now available on the Torch website. Her deal with Lori went through, and Torch is even featured on Lori’s website. The company experienced a significant increase in sales after the episode appeared, and they now ship to U.S. military branches across 10 countries. By July 2024, Torch reached its sales target of $500K for 2023.
Conclusion
Haley’s appearance on Shark Tank gave her business, TORCH Warriorwear, a significant push, helping her spread her brand and reach more customers. After securing a deal with Lori, TORCH became featured on Lori’s website, which contributed to the increase in sales.
With a unique mission to support women in the military, firefighting, health care, and law enforcement with comfortable, compliant bodysuits, TORCH has grown to serve U.S. military branches in ten countries and successfully hit its 2023 sales goal of $500K. Haley also launched her book, “Light the Torch: An Origin Story by the Creator of Warriorwear”, available alongside her bodysuits on the Torch website.
